Dutch Consumers Less Pessimistic In September

Consumer sentiment in the Netherlands showed a slight improvement in September, driven by better perceptions of the economic climate and increased willingness to make purchases, according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Friday.

The consumer confidence index rose to -21 in September from -24 in August. Despite this uptick, the index remains significantly below the 20-year average of -10 points.

The economic climate sub-index improved to -37 in September from -42 in August, reflecting enhanced views on both the past economic conditions and the outlook for the coming twelve months.

Similarly, the index measuring willingness to buy increased to -11 in September from -13 in August. Consumers felt that the environment for making large purchases was less unfavorable compared to the previous month.
