Rio Tinto (RTPPF.PK, RIO.L, RIO, RTNTF.PK) has announced the completion of its acquisition of Mitsubishi Corp.'s 11.65% interest in Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL). BSL operates the Boyne Island aluminium smelter located in Gladstone, Australia.
As a result of this transaction, Rio Tinto's stake in Boyne Smelters Limited has increased to 71.04%.
Additionally, Rio Tinto's previously announced acquisitions of Sumitomo Chemical Company's (SCC) 2.46% stake in BSL, along with SCC's 20.64% interest in New Zealand Aluminium Smelters (NZAS), which operates the Tiwai Point aluminium smelter in New Zealand, are still advancing through various conditions precedent.
