Romania experienced the fastest rise in producer prices in over a year this August, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics on Wednesday.
In August, the Producer Price Index (PPI) saw a year-over-year increase of 2.7 percent, up from a 2.5 percent rise in July. This marks the highest rate of inflation since June of the previous year, when prices had surged by 3.7 percent.
Breaking down the data, domestic market prices rose by 2.8 percent annually, while foreign market prices climbed 2.3 percent.
In terms of specific industrial sectors, capital goods experienced the most significant price increase at 6.6 percent annually in August. This was followed by non-durable consumer goods, which saw a rise of 3.5 percent, and energy goods, which increased by 2.4 percent.
On a month-to-month basis, however, producer prices declined by 1.1 percent in August.
