BAE Systems plc (BA.L) has secured a $92 million contract from the U.S. Navy to further its work on the Virginia-class submarine program, as announced on Thursday. This contract mandates BAE Systems to supply Propulsor Forward Assemblies, in addition to offering design engineering support services and sustainment hardware.
These advanced propulsion systems will be produced at BAE Systems' specialized submarine structures production facility, located at the Submarine Center of Excellence in Louisville, Kentucky. The company will also continue to extend its expert engineering and business support from their facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. To date, BAE Systems has successfully delivered 33 forward assemblies to the U.S. Navy.
