On Thursday, Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (ZM) unveiled Zoom Phone in India, marking the debut of a unique licensed cloud private branch exchange service complete with local phone numbers.

The company highlighted that Zoom Phone provides robust, secure, and adaptable voice communication capabilities and is enhanced with an AI Companion designed to boost call productivity.

Initially, the service will be available in the Maharashtra Telecom Circle, with plans to subsequently expand to the Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, and Delhi telecom circles.

Importantly, the online platform was granted the Unified License with Access — All/PAN India and Long Distance licenses by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, in April 2023.

Currently, Zoom's share price is at $67.01, reflecting a 0.81% decrease on the Nasdaq.
