Walmart Expands Pet Care Offerings With New Service Locations, Pet Prescription Delivery

Walmart (WMT) has announced significant enhancements to its core pet care services, broadening access to affordable veterinary services—both in-person and virtually—as well as pet prescription delivery, grooming, pet food, and supplies, all designed to offer a seamless experience for pet owners.

Walmart reports that the pet care sector remains one of the most dynamic areas in retail. Projections indicate an annual spending growth rate of 7% by 2030, with household expenses for each pet expected to rise to $1,445 by 2026.

Currently, veterinary services rank as the second largest spending category in pet care, trailing only consumables, and are expected to continue growing as pet owners increasingly prioritize their pets' health and wellbeing.

"Walmart recognizes that pets are family members, and we are honored to be a trusted destination for pet owners," stated Kaitlyn Shadiow, Vice President of Merchandising, Pets, Walmart U.S. "Whether shopping in-store or online, Walmart provides a unique omnichannel experience with a comprehensive range of options—from products and prescriptions to services—all offered at our Everyday Low Prices to make pet care both affordable and convenient."
