Japan Machine Tool Orders Fall 6.5%

Japan's machine tool orders continued to decline for the second consecutive month in September, driven by reduced demand both internationally and domestically, according to preliminary figures released by the Japan Machine Tool Builders Association (JMTBA) on Wednesday.

For September, machine tool orders fell by 6.5% compared to the same period last year, marking a more pronounced decline than the 3.5% decrease observed in August.

International demand for these tools was down by 6.2% year-on-year, while domestic orders experienced a downturn of 7.0%.

However, on a month-to-month comparison, machine tool orders exhibited a notable recovery, increasing by 13.1% in September, a reversal from the significant 10.6% drop recorded in the previous month.
