Apple has unveiled the latest iteration of its iPad mini, now equipped with the A17 Pro chip and enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities. Pre-orders for this cutting-edge device are currently open, with official availability starting Wednesday, October 23. Customers will be able to purchase the new iPad mini at Apple Store locations and through Apple Authorized Resellers beginning on this date. The pricing starts at $499 for the Wi-Fi version, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model is priced at $649.

The new iPad mini starts with a base storage of 128GB and offers expanded capacity with 256GB and 512GB options. With support for Wi-Fi 6E, the Cellular models now feature eSIM activation. The enhanced USB-C port boasts speeds up to twice as fast as the previous generation, allowing data transfers of up to 10Gbps. The device features an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and is equipped with a 12MP wide rear camera capable of Smart HDR 4. It also supports the Apple Pencil Pro, enhancing its functionality.

Apple has also announced that the initial suite of Apple Intelligence features will become accessible in U.S. English later this month via a complimentary software update to iPadOS 18.1. These features will be available for iPads featuring the A17 Pro chip, the M1 chip, and subsequent iterations. Additional Apple Intelligence capabilities are set to be introduced gradually over the coming months.
