Sensex, Nifty Slightly Lower In Early Trade

Indian equities opened on a subdued note on Wednesday, reflecting the negative trends observed in global markets.

In the initial hours of trading, the BSE Sensex, comprising 30 leading stocks, had decreased by 120 points, marking a 0.2 percent decline to settle at 81,699. Simultaneously, the broader NSE Nifty index experienced a drop of 38 points, also translating to a 0.2 percent reduction, positioning it at 25,019.

Bajaj Auto saw a minor uptick ahead of its anticipated earnings announcement. Conversely, Bank of Maharashtra made gains, increasing by 1.6 percent following the revelation of a significant 44 percent increase in its profit for the second quarter.

Indian Hotels faced a decline in its stock value subsequent to its declaration regarding the development of a 150-key greenfield resort in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Tata Motors showed a slight downturn after its brand, Jaguar Land Rover, reported a 36 percent year-on-year increase in retail sales during the first half of the current fiscal year.
