DAX Drifts Lower Ahead Of ECB Rate Decision

German stocks experienced a downward trend on Wednesday, while the euro marked a decline for the third consecutive day, as investors remained focused on the upcoming European Central Bank (ECB) meeting on Thursday for potential guidance.

Market participants are anticipating two additional rate cuts by the ECB this year, in light of the sluggish growth outlook and decreasing inflation levels.

The DAX index, serving as a key market benchmark, fell by 0.2% to 19,451 points, following a 0.1% decline at the close of the previous trading session.

Corporate earnings continued to capture investor attention. Sportswear giant Adidas saw its shares plummet by 3.6%, despite the company raising its full-year sales and profit forecasts. Meanwhile, Drägerwerk experienced a 3.1% decrease in its share value after reporting a reduction in preliminary earnings before interest and taxes for the third quarter, attributed to a decline in sales in its industrial and hospital breathing equipment segment.
