Boeing Bags Order For 5 More 777 Freighters From Emirates SkyCargo

Boeing Co. (BA) announced on Monday that Emirates SkyCargo has placed an order for an additional five Boeing 777 freighters, complementing their previous acquisition of five aircraft of the same model. This purchase enhances Emirates' overall order portfolio to 249 Boeing widebody airplanes, which now includes 14 of the 777 freighter variant.

Looking ahead, Emirates SkyCargo intends to operate a fleet of 21 Boeing 777 Freighters, a nearly doubling of their existing fleet of 11 freighters, as the airline actively works to increase its cargo capacity.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman of Emirates Airline and Group, remarked on this strategic investment by stating, "We are expanding our freighter fleet to address the soaring demand for air cargo services. This growth in demand parallels Dubai's emergence as a significant and trusted global logistics hub."

Boeing's commercial market projection indicates the need for approximately 2,845 additional freighters over the next two decades to accommodate the escalating demand for global logistics services.
