T-Mobile and Miller Electric have announced a partnership to implement a 5G private network for a fleet of autonomous vehicles, enhancing connectivity in Jacksonville's waterfront and urban areas. This initiative is part of the city's Ultimate Urban Circulator program. T-Mobile's Advanced Network Solutions will provide the 5G private network, facilitating the operation of new, fully autonomous, bus-shaped shuttles. These shuttles are designed to transport visitors across a 3-mile route, stretching from EverBank Stadium, where the city's professional football team plays, to a newly established waterfront hub.
The introduction of these autonomous shuttles is slated for mid-2025 and marks the commencement of the first of three phases in Jacksonville's Ultimate Urban Circulator initiative.
