Transurban, an entity actively involved in the development and management of toll road networks, has disclosed a 1.1% rise in Average Daily Traffic (ADT) for the third quarter of 2024, reaching an average of 2.5 million daily trips. This upswing was bolstered by positive performance across all markets except Melbourne.
In Sydney, traffic volumes increased by 1.9%, largely attributed to a rise in commutes associated with workdays and heavy vehicle movement. All freight corridors observed a surge in heavy vehicle traffic, with notable growth recorded along the East/West route of the WestConnex (WCX) network.
Conversely, Melbourne's ADT saw a decrease of 1% during the quarter, with the Western Link contributing significantly to this decline, experiencing a reduction of 1.5%.
In Brisbane, traffic figures improved by 1.3%, supported by a notable 2.9% increase in freight-related travel.
Across North America, traffic continued its upward trajectory, with a 6.5% increase. The 95 Express Lanes reported an ADT rise of 11.6%, significantly aided by the Fredericksburg Extension, now accounting for 20% of total trips on the 95 Express Lanes.
Transurban has reiterated its expectation for the 2025 fiscal year distribution to reach 65.0 Australian cents per share, marking an approximate growth of 5% compared to fiscal year 2024.
The company announced the appointment of David Clements as Group Executive, Operations. Clements, who has over a decade of experience in crucial projects with Transurban, most recently served as the General Manager for Delivery in Australia.
Further, Transurban continues to advance its initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact, maintaining its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
