Swedish Trade Surplus Shrinks In September

Sweden's foreign trade surplus experienced a decline in September as exports decreased at a faster rate than imports, according to data released by Statistics Sweden on Monday. The trade surplus narrowed to SEK 0.8 billion in September, down from SEK 2.3 billion in the same month last year. In contrast, August recorded a trade deficit of SEK 6.5 billion.

Year-on-year, exports dropped by 9.0 percent, while imports fell by 8.0 percent. The trade balance with countries outside the EU showed a surplus of SEK 24.9 billion in September. However, the trade balance with EU nations displayed a deficit of SEK 24.1 billion.

After seasonal adjustments, the trade surplus stood at SEK 3.3 billion in September, decreasing from SEK 4.2 billion in August.
