Ireland Wholesale Prices Fall 1.6% In September

In September, Ireland experienced a decline in wholesale prices for the second consecutive month, as reported by the Central Statistics Office on Thursday. The manufacturing sector saw a year-on-year decrease in output prices of 1.6%, following a 1.7% decline in August.

Specifically, factory gate prices for wood and wood products experienced a significant drop of 7.6% compared to the previous year, while food products decreased by 1.8%. In contrast, the costs for chemicals and chemical products saw a substantial increase of 22.8%.

Domestic sales prices showed a year-over-year increase of 1.8% in September, whereas prices in the export market experienced a decrease of 1.7%. Additionally, statistics revealed a 1.0% annual rise in wholesale electricity prices, with construction product prices showing a marginal increase of 0.1%.

On a month-to-month basis, wholesale prices saw a slight uptick of 0.2%, recovering from a 4.3% decline in August.
