L3Harris Technologies has announced that it has been awarded an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract by the U.S. Navy, with a potential value of up to $999 million. This contract is aimed at equipping the U.S. and its coalition forces with robust communication technology.
Over the span of the next five years, L3Harris is set to supply its Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System Terminals (MIDS JTRS), a vital component in secure communication for a variety of platforms across air, ground, and maritime operations.
Acting as one of two suppliers for the MIDS JTRS solution, L3Harris offers a crucial software-defined Link 16 communication radio designed to endure in challenging conditions.
Christopher E. Kubasik, the Chair and CEO of L3Harris, emphasized the importance of unity in the current defense scenario by stating, "Given the present threat landscape, it is crucial for the United States and its allied partners to cooperate seamlessly and instantaneously, countering hostile activities near the sovereign territories of allies." He added, "Our resilient technology provides coalition users with situational awareness, allowing them to maintain a unified operational picture and drive mission success."
