Poland Retail Sales Rebound 1.3%

The retail sales in Poland showed a significant improvement in October, exceeding expectations, according to data released by Statistics Poland on Tuesday. After experiencing a decline in the previous month, retail sales climbed by 1.3 percent on an annual basis at constant prices in October. This comes after a 3.0 percent decrease in September, with economists forecasting a smaller increase of 0.8 percent for October.

The sectors contributing the most to this upswing included motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts, which saw a remarkable annual growth of 24.1 percent. Additionally, sales in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment rose by 9.6 percent. Conversely, there was a notable downturn in the sales of textiles, clothing, and footwear, which plummeted by 12.8 percent.

Month-over-month, there was a robust increase in retail sales, surging 7.8 percent from September, marking a recovery from the 5.7 percent decrease recorded in the previous month.
