Ireland Manufacturing Output Grows Most In 18 Months

Ireland's manufacturing output has expanded at the fastest rate in eighteen months, according to preliminary data released by the Central Statistics Office on Monday.

In October, manufacturing output surged by a seasonally adjusted 17.1% year-on-year, building on a modest 1.7% rise in September. This marks the most significant growth since April 2023. On a month-to-month basis, the manufacturing sector's output recovered, posting a 5.2% increase following a 6.4% decline the previous month.

Industrial production also showed impressive growth, advancing by 16.3% in October compared to the same month last year. This was a substantial acceleration from the 1.8% increase recorded in September. Month-on-month, industrial output increased 5.7% in October, rebounding from a 5.5% decline in September.

Over the August to October period, production in the manufacturing industries rose by 1.4% compared to the previous three months. This growth was influenced by varying performances between Ireland’s globally integrated modern sector and traditional industries. The modern sector—comprising chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and computer and electronics industries—experienced a 10.3% annual growth in industrial production relative to the same period last year, while traditional sectors registered a 5.3% increase.
