Apple Inc. (AAPL), the renowned technology giant, is set to initiate the production of its AirPods wireless earphones in India for the first time, starting early next year.

A Foxconn Technology Group subsidiary is expected to commence the assembly of AirPods at a newly established facility near Hyderabad in Telangana state by the first quarter of 2025, as reported by Bloomberg, referencing sources acquainted with the developments.

The facility has already begun trial production, with plans to escalate to full-scale manufacturing soon thereafter.

This strategic shift marks a substantial change for Apple, as the corporation aims to decrease its dependency on Chinese manufacturing. India is becoming increasingly integral to Apple’s strategy to diversify its production footprint and manage geopolitical risks associated with its Chinese operations.

This endeavor will make AirPods the second significant Apple product to be assembled in India, following the iPhone.
