Dutch DPA Imposes Fine On Netflix For Violations Of General Data Protection Regulation

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA) has levied a fine of 4.75 million euros on the streaming service Netflix. Initiated in 2019, the investigation by the Dutch DPA revealed that Netflix failed to provide clear information in its privacy statement regarding its data practices. Additionally, Netflix did not adequately inform customers who inquired about the data collected on them.

The Dutch DPA, formally known as the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, is the independent regulatory body in the Netherlands that ensures the protection of personal data rights.
