Japan Construction Orders Plunge 10.2% In November

In November, Japan experienced a notable decline in construction orders following a sharp increase the month before, according to data released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism on Thursday. The volume of construction orders secured by Japan's largest 50 contractors dropped by 10.2% year-over-year, a stark contrast to the impressive 44.6% growth observed in October.

This downturn was chiefly attributed to a significant 41.1% decrease in foreign orders. Furthermore, domestic orders also saw a substantial decrease, falling by 8.6%. Analyzing the specifics, orders for building construction decreased by 10.6%, while civil engineering works witnessed a 9.1% decline.
