The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that Ford Motor Co. is set to recall approximately 20,484 hybrid crossover SUVs. This recall addresses battery malfunctions that may result in a loss of propulsion, subsequently heightening the crash risk and potentially causing fires.
The affected models include certain Ford Escape vehicles from 2020-2024 and Lincoln Corsair vehicles from 2021-2024.
According to NHTSA, Ford dealers will update the battery energy control module (BECM) software and replace the high-voltage battery pack if necessary, at no cost to the vehicle owner. Notification letters to owners are anticipated to be dispatched by January 20, 2025.
