European Economic News Preview: France Industrial Output, Consumer Spending Due

Industrial production and consumer spending figures from France, along with retail sales data from Italy, are set to headline the European economic news scheduled for release on Friday.

At 1:45 AM Eastern Time, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs will unveil the Swiss unemployment statistics for December. It is anticipated that the unemployment rate will rise marginally, reaching 2.7% compared to 2.6% in the preceding month. Then, at 2:45 AM Eastern Time, France's statistics office, INSEE, will publish November’s industrial output and consumer spending data. Economists predict a 0.1% monthly decrease in industrial production, mirroring the decline observed in October. Meanwhile, consumer spending is expected to increase by 0.1% month-on-month, rebounding from a 0.4% decrease in the previous month.

At 3:00 AM Eastern Time, Spain's statistical institute INE is slated to release its industrial production figures for November.

Following this, at 4:00 AM Eastern Time, Italy's statistics office, ISTAT, will release the monthly retail sales data. Analysts forecast a 0.2% growth in retail sales for November, indicating a turnaround from the 0.5% decrease recorded in October.
