Vianode, a company specializing in advanced battery materials, has announced a significant long-term supply agreement with General Motors Co. (GM) focused on providing EV battery-grade anode graphite. This multi-billion dollar deal is aimed at establishing extensive manufacturing capabilities and the steady supply of synthetic anode graphite through 2033.
According to the agreement, Vianode will commence production of high-performance anode graphite at its North American facility starting in 2027. This material will primarily serve Ultium Cells LLC, the battery cell production partnership between GM and LG Energy Solution, dedicated to advancing next-generation electric vehicle batteries.
Vianode has set an ambitious target to supply enough advanced materials to power 3 million electric vehicles annually by 2030.
