FX.co ★ Onsemi Completes Acquisition Of SiC JFET Technology For $115 Mln In Cash

On Wednesday, onsemi (ON) announced it has finalized the acquisition of the Silicon Carbide Junction Field-Effect Transistor (SiC JFET) business from Qorvo, including its United Silicon Carbide subsidiary, for $115 million in cash.

This strategic acquisition enhances onsemi's position in the power semiconductor market by integrating SiC JFET technology into its current EliteSiC power portfolio.

The inclusion of SiC JFETs will enable onsemi to meet the increasing demands for energy efficiency and power density, especially in the AC-DC conversion stage of power supply units used in AI data centers.

This move marks a pivotal advancement in onsemi's strategy to deliver state-of-the-art, energy-efficient solutions across various sectors, including automotive, industrial, and data center applications.

Currently, ON is trading at $55.49 on the Nasdaq, reflecting a 0.56% increase, or $0.31.
