According to recent data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, Slovenian consumer sentiment became slightly more negative at the beginning of the year. The consumer sentiment index decreased to -28.0 in January, down from -27.0 in December.
Breaking down the components, households' outlook on their personal financial situation for the coming year declined, with the index lowering to -18 from -15. Additionally, the index reflecting opinions on financial conditions in the past dropped to -24 from -19.
Conversely, there was a modest improvement in expectations regarding the country's overall economic situation, with the index increasing slightly to -36 from -39.
In comparison to October 2024, consumer expectations concerning home improvements and purchases have worsened, as highlighted by the survey.
