European Economic News Preview: Germany Industrial Output, Foreign Trade Due

Germany's industrial production and foreign trade figures, along with the UK house price index, are set to headline a relatively uneventful day in European economic news on Friday.

At 2:00 AM ET, the German statistical office, Destatis, will publish the latest figures for industrial production and foreign trade. Analysts are projecting a 0.7% decrease in industrial output for December, contrasting with a 1.5% increase recorded in November. Meanwhile, exports are predicted to decline by 0.6%, while imports are expected to rise by 1.8% from the previous month.

In the UK, Halifax will release house price data. Forecasts suggest that house prices will increase by 0.4% in January, recovering from a 0.2% decrease in December.

Additionally, at 2:45 AM ET, France’s customs office is anticipated to provide foreign trade statistics. The trade deficit is expected to decrease to €5.3 billion in December from €7.1 billion in the preceding month.

Later, at 3:00 AM ET, Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE) will report on industrial production for December. Economists predict a 0.5% year-on-year increase, recovering from a 0.4% decline in November.
