In February 2025, France's government budget deficit reduced to EUR 40.3 billion, down from EUR 44.0 billion in the same period the previous year. This improvement was driven by a significant increase in total revenues, which surged by 12.6% year-on-year to EUR 45.2 billion. In contrast, expenditures rose at a more moderate pace, growing only 3.6% to reach EUR 77.8 billion. Furthermore, the Treasury special accounts, which monitor the balance of inflows and outflows for specific purposes, such as receipts from local government, showed a narrower deficit of EUR 7.7 billion, compared to a EUR 9.1 billion gap recorded during the same period in the preceding year.
