US Private Sector Growth Picks Up in March: S&P Global

The S&P Global U.S. Composite PMI climbed to 53.5 in March 2025, improving from 51.6 in February and aligning with earlier estimates. This latest figure indicates robust growth in the private sector, marking the most significant expansion in three months, primarily fueled by increased activity in the services sector, even as manufacturing output saw a decline. New business continued its upward trend, accompanied by a modest rise in overall employment, despite escalating uncertainties about the future. On the pricing side, input costs experienced their largest spike in almost two years, and output charges rose substantially. However, business confidence has waned, dropping to its lowest level since September 2024.
