Croatia Trade Deficit Widens Slightly

Croatia experienced a modest increase in its trade deficit, which climbed to EUR 1.5 billion in February 2025, compared to EUR 1.4 billion in the same month of the previous year, according to preliminary figures. Over the January-February period, the trade deficit expanded to EUR 2.9 billion, up from EUR 2.7 billion in the corresponding timeframe last year. Exports saw a year-on-year growth of 9.5%, reaching EUR 4 billion. This rise was largely fueled by stronger sales to non-EU countries, up by 14.1%, and a 7.3% increase in exports to EU member states. On the other hand, imports rose by 8.6%, totaling EUR 6.8 billion, with a notable 37.2% surge in purchases from non-EU countries and a 2.2% rise in imports from EU member states.
