In February 2025, retail sales in Turkey experienced a year-on-year increase of 12.2%, down from a revised 12.6% rise recorded in January. This represented the slowest retail trade growth since July 2024. Notably, there was a softer increase in sales across several sectors, including food, beverages, and tobacco sold in specialized stores, which rose by 19.6% compared to 20.2% in January. Sales of information and communication equipment in specialized stores grew by 8.5%, down from 16.6%, while cultural and recreation goods saw a growth of 3%, decreasing from 10%. Other household equipment in specialized stores increased by 3.5% from 8.9%, and sales through stalls and markets grew by 10% compared to 14% in January. Moreover, sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores contracted by 0.5% following a 4% increase the previous month. Conversely, sales of other goods in specialized stores climbed to 24.5% from 21.9%, and sales conducted outside of stores, stalls, and markets rose to 6% from 3.4%. On a seasonally adjusted monthly comparison, retail trade growth slowed to 1.1% in February 2025, down from 2% in January.
