Japan Inflation Rate Hits 4-Month Low

Japan's annual inflation rate eased slightly to 3.6% in March 2025, down from 3.7% the previous month, representing the lowest level since November of last year. Food prices saw the smallest increase in three months, at 7.4%, compared to 7.6% in February. Meanwhile, electricity prices rose by 8.7%, down from 9.0%, and gas prices increased by 2.4%, a decrease from 3.4%, thanks to government energy subsidies. Despite these trends, the core inflation rate climbed to 3.2%, up from 3.0%, aligning with market expectations. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.3%, reversing the 0.1% decline seen in February.
