Swedish Jobless Rate Drops to 3-Month Low

In March 2025, Sweden experienced a reduction in its unemployment rate, which decreased to 8.5% from 9.2% in March of the previous year. This marked the lowest unemployment level since December 2024. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 39,000 compared to the prior year, bringing the total to 486,000, while the number of employed individuals rose by 52,000, reaching 5.24 million. Correspondingly, the employment rate saw an increase of 0.4 percentage points, reaching 68.7%. However, the labor force participation rate saw a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points, down to 75.1%. In terms of labor activity, the average total number of weekly hours worked was 171.4 million. When adjusted for seasonal variations, the unemployment rate remained stable at 8.8%, unchanged from the previous period.
