Montenegro Trade Deficit Widens in March

Montenegro's trade deficit expanded to EUR 313.9 million in March 2025, compared to EUR 286.1 million in March of the previous year. On an annual basis, exports climbed by 24.3% to reach EUR 53.2 million, while imports saw an increase of 11.6%, totaling EUR 367.2 million. Analyzing the period from January to March 2025, exports decreased slightly by 0.5% compared to the same timeframe the previous year, amounting to EUR 150.1 million. This decline was largely influenced by a significant reduction in sales of manufactured goods categorized primarily by material (-45.7%), beverages and tobacco (-42.9%), and machinery and transport equipment (-38.1%). Conversely, imports rose by 8.1% to reach EUR 934.1 million, with the increase mainly attributed to higher acquisitions of animal oils and fats (27.1%), mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials (20%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10.2%), and beverages and tobacco (9.8%).
