In March 2025, the number of individuals voluntarily leaving their jobs in the United States increased by 82,000, reaching 3.332 million, the highest level in eight months. This figure rose from an adjusted 3.250 million in February and 3.329 million recorded a year earlier. The quits rate, which assesses the portion of total employment made up of voluntary job leavers, slightly rose to 2.1% from 2% the previous month. Notably, job quits increased in sectors such as accommodation and food services (+60,000), health care and social assistance (+43,000), and finance and insurance (+25,000), while experiencing a significant decline in transportation, warehousing, and utilities (-49,000). Regionally, job quits increased in the Midwest (+66,000) and the West (+46,000) but decreased in the South (-31,000) and the Northeast (-1,000).
