US Consumer Spending Rises More than Expected

In March 2025, personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the United States experienced a 0.7% increase compared to the previous month. This follows a revised increase of 0.5% in February and surpasses the anticipated market growth rate of 0.5%. The PCE climbed by $134.5 billion, primarily due to a $54.5 billion surge in spending on goods, particularly motor vehicles and parts, and a $79.9 billion rise in spending on services. Key areas driving service spending included food services and accommodations, housing and utilities, healthcare, and other services.
