Bulgaria Retail Sales Growth Accelerates

In March 2025, Bulgaria witnessed a 5.4% year-on-year rise in retail sales, marking an acceleration from February's 2.4% increase. This growth spanned across various sectors, with significant strides in non-food products, which surged by 7.2%, up from 3.7% the month before. Within this sector, the most pronounced advancements were in textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods, which climbed 10.3% compared to February's 7.1%. Additionally, sales of audio and video equipment, hardware, paints, glass, and household electrical appliances rose sharply by 10.7%, up from 2.8%. The market also saw boosted sales in computers, peripherals, software, and telecommunications equipment, increasing by 11.6% from 9.2%. Sales of information and communication devices, recreational goods, and various household equipment followed this upward trend, increasing by 10.8%, compared to the previous 5.5%. Meanwhile, the food, beverages, and tobacco sector returned to positive growth, with sales rising by 0.5% after experiencing a 2.1% decline in February. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales rose by 1.1%, bouncing back from a revised 1.6% decrease in the previous month.
