Bangladesh Inflation Rate at Over 2-Year Low

In April 2025, Bangladesh's annual inflation rate dropped to 9.17%, down from 9.35% the month before. This is the lowest rate since February 2023, due to a moderation in both food prices, which fell to 8.63% from 8.93%, and non-food prices, which declined to 9.61% from 9.70%. The trend was observed across different regions, with inflation decreasing in both rural and urban areas: rural inflation fell to 9.15% from 9.41%, and urban inflation fell to 9.59% from 9.66%. Bangladesh Bank Governor, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, indicated that inflation is on a downward trajectory and could potentially decrease to 4–5% in the future if the government continues its stable policy and efforts. On a monthly basis, consumer prices also decreased, easing to 0.39% in April from a five-month peak of 1.29% in March.
