US Futures Steady as Investors Weigh US-UK Trade Deal

On Friday, US stock futures remained relatively stable as investors continued to weigh the implications of the newly established US-UK trade agreement. This marks the first significant pact since the US implemented extensive tariffs earlier this year. President Trump praised the deal as a significant step forward that could enhance American exports, even though a 10% tariff is still in effect. Trump further suggested the potential relaxation of tariffs on China, depending on the results of forthcoming trade discussions scheduled for this weekend in Switzerland, where US and Chinese representatives are expected to convene.

In the regular trading session on Thursday, the Dow Jones increased by 0.62%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.58%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced by 1.07%, with the tech sector showing strong performance. Leading the gains were companies such as Tesla, which saw a 3.1% increase, Palantir Technologies, with a 7.9% rise, and MicroStrategy, which climbed 5.6%. However, in after-hours trading, Affirm and Coinbase experienced declines of 9% and 3% respectively, following disappointing quarterly earnings. Conversely, Pinterest experienced a 15% jump due to positive second-quarter revenue projections.
