In April 2025, Colombia's annual inflation rate increased to 5.16%, up from 5.09% the previous month, surpassing market predictions of 5%. This rise was primarily fueled by more rapid price hikes in sectors such as transportation (5.29% up from 4.88% in March), restaurants and hotels (7.71% up from 7.34%), health (5.31% up slightly from 5.30%), and education (7.38% up from 7.27%). Conversely, there was a slight decline in inflation rates for food (4.61% down from 4.67%) and housing (6.09% down from 6.29%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices saw an increase of 0.66%, a growth from March’s 0.52% rise, and exceeding market expectations of 0.5%.
