Norway Manufacturing Output Stalls in March

In March 2025, Norway's manufacturing production remained unchanged compared to the previous month, following a downward revision of the data for February, which originally showed a 1.3% increase. There was a recovery in output for textiles, wearing apparel, and leather, with a rise of 0.7% compared to a 2.2% decline in February. Additionally, the paper and paper products sector saw a 3% increase following a previous 3.6% drop. Growth also accelerated in the basic chemicals sector, increasing by 6.3% from 3.6%, and in transport equipment, which rose by 1% from 0.7%. However, these improvements were counterbalanced by declines in other areas: printing fell by 1% compared to a 1.7% rise previously, rubber, plastics, and mineral products saw a decrease of 1% versus a previous 1.6% increase, and computer and electrical equipment dropped by 3.7% after a 5.3% increase in February. Annually, manufacturing output edged up by 0.1%, marking a significant deceleration from the 6% growth observed in February, which was the highest in seven months.
