Serbia Inflation Rate Slows to 10-Month Low

The annual inflation rate in Serbia decreased to 4% in April 2025, representing the lowest level in ten months. This marks a decrease from 4.4% in March and falls short of the projected forecast of 4.3%. The transport sector witnessed a 1.7% reduction, reversing a 1.3% increase from the previous month, largely due to a significant 6.5% drop in fuel and lubricant prices for personal transport equipment. Additionally, inflation moderated in sectors such as furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (5.3%, down from 5.9%), recreation and culture (3.8%, down from 3.9%), as well as restaurants and hotels (8.1%, down from 8.7%). Conversely, there was an acceleration in price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages (up to 5% from 4.8%), housing and utilities (rising to 3.7% from 3.6%), communication (increasing to 1.8% from 1.6%), and miscellaneous goods and services (which climbed to 3.9% from 3.7%). Compared to the previous month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a 0.3% increase on a month-over-month basis, following a 0.1% rise in March.
