UK Total Pay Growth Beats Forecasts

In the UK, total average weekly earnings, including bonuses, increased by 5.5% year-on-year to reach GBP 722 per week in the three months leading up to March 2025. This is a slight downturn from the 5.7% growth observed in the previous two periods, yet surpasses the market's expected forecast of 5.2%. This marks the lowest rate since the three months ending October 2024, driven by both private sector wage growth slowing to 5.4% (its lowest since the three months leading to September 2024, down from 5.7%) and the public sector experiencing a drop to 5.4% (its lowest since the three months ending December, down from 5.8%). When adjusted for inflation, total earnings experienced a 1.7% growth, the smallest increase since the three months ending September 2024.
