In March 2025, New Zealand experienced an 8.4% decrease in visitor arrivals compared to the same period the previous year, totaling 311,800 visitors. This marks the second consecutive month of decline, potentially influenced by Easter occurring later in the year than in 2024. The most significant drop in arrivals was from Australia, with a decrease of 13,800 visitors, while the United Kingdom and the United States also observed reductions. Conversely, the number of visitors from China, Indonesia, and Japan saw a slight increase. The March total represents 82% of the visitor levels seen before the pandemic in March 2019. Australians constituted the largest visitor segment at 37%, followed by the United States at 16%, China at 7%, and the United Kingdom at 6%. Despite this annual decrease, New Zealand remains a strong attraction for important international markets.
