Hungary Construction Output Falls at Softer Pace

In March 2025, Hungary experienced a 3.4% decrease in construction output compared to the same month the previous year. This marks the tenth straight month of decline, although the contraction has eased from a revised 5.1% drop observed in February. Specifically, building construction saw a milder decline, dipping by just 0.1% as opposed to a significant 10.8% decrease in February. However, civil engineering works experienced a sharp downturn, plummeting by 8.9% compared to the previous month's 12.4% drop. On a seasonally adjusted basis, monthly construction output increased by 0.7% in March, a recovery from the 1.6% decrease in February.
