Spain Inflation Rate Confirmed at 6-Month Low of 2.2%

Spain's annual inflation rate decelerated for the second consecutive month in April 2025, reaching 2.2%, the lowest in six months, aligning with preliminary figures. This moderation was primarily influenced by a decrease in inflation within the housing and utilities sectors, which slowed to 4.2% from 5.7% in March, alongside a further reduction in transportation costs, dropping 1.6% compared to a 0.9% decline previously. Price increases also tapered for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, down to 2.6% from 3.1%, and for food and non-alcoholic drinks, easing to 2% from 2.4%. The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile categories such as food and energy, was confirmed at 2.4% in April, up from 2% the preceding month. On a month-to-month basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.6%, following a 0.1% uptick in March. According to the EU-harmonised measure, the CPI increased by 2.2% annually and 0.6% monthly, both aligning with initial estimates.
