Hungary Industrial Output Stagnates in March

In March 2025, Hungary's industrial production remained flat compared to the same period the previous year, following an 8.7% decline in February. This data aligns with both preliminary estimates and market forecasts. Within the key manufacturing sectors, there were notable increases in the production of computer, electronic, and optical products (up by 15.6%), transport equipment (up by 2.8%), and food products, beverages, and tobacco products (up by 0.9%). Conversely, production fell in sectors such as electrical equipment, which saw a significant decrease of 20.5%, as well as basic metals and fabricated metal products, which declined by 4.8%, and rubber and plastics products, along with other non-metallic mineral products, which dropped by 1.3%. On a seasonally adjusted month-to-month basis, the industrial output experienced a modest increase of 0.1% in March, recovering slightly from a 1.1% decrease in February.
