US Futures Edge Lower After Mixed Session

On Thursday, U.S. stock futures experienced a slight decline as investors processed the latest developments in trade policies and the tech sector's renewed vigor. After-hours trading saw a significant 69% surge in Foot Locker's shares following reports of Dick’s Sporting Goods nearing a $2.3 billion acquisition agreement. In contrast, UnitedHealth's shares tumbled by 8% amid investigations by Japan’s central bank. During Wednesday’s regular trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.21%, while gains were observed in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite, which rose 0.1% and 0.72%, respectively. Among the S&P 500's 11 sectors, eight ended lower, with notable losses in healthcare, materials, and real estate. However, communication services, technology, and consumer discretionary sectors showed strong performance. The technology sector, in particular, demonstrated robust momentum with Nvidia shares climbing 4.2% due to reports of AI chip exports to Saudi Arabia, while AMD's stock increased by 4.7% following the announcement of a $6 billion stock buyback initiative.
