France Inflation Rate Confirmed at Over 4-Year Low of 0.8%

France's annual inflation rate stood steady at 0.8% in April 2025, marking the third consecutive month at this low level, the lowest since February 2021. Energy prices experienced a sharper decline of 7.8%, compared to a 6.6% drop in the previous month. In contrast, food prices increased by 1.2%, significantly more than the 0.6% rise observed in March. On a monthly basis, consumer prices saw a notable uptick of 0.6%, the most significant rise since February 2024, primarily propelled by increased service costs, especially in transportation, and higher food prices. This monthly figure slightly surpassed the initial estimate of 0.5%. Additionally, the EU-harmonized inflation rate remained at 0.9%, a slight increase over the earlier figure of 0.8%.
