Similarly, rural housing starts witnessed a significant rise, jumping from 10,870 to 18,818 units. On an annual basis, urban housing starts climbed by 17% to reach 21,720 units. Among major urban centers, Montréal experienced the most substantial growth, with a 64% increase attributed to a rise in multi-unit projects. Vancouver also saw a 6% increase for similar reasons.
